PTC Foundation Trust (PFT) Collaborated with Extramarks Education Foundation (EEF) for improving Quality of Education in Army Goodwill Schools (AGS) in the bordering areas of J&K through a digital education program under Project PEHAL.
PTC India Ltd is the major player in power trading sector in the country. PTC India Ltd has two sister companies namely PTC Energy Ltd and PTC India Financial Services Ltd. As a responsible corporate citizens, all three group companies are committed to ensure the social upliftment of the communities in which it operates through Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives.
Moving towards the goal of effective CSR, the PTC group companies decided to establish a trust named as ‘PTC Foundation’. The trust is responsible for undertaking socially useful programs for the welfare and sustainable development of communities at large.
Project PEHAL will focus on improving quality of education by implementing this project which facilitates 10 digital classrooms, 130 educational tablets, Career Assessment Programme and Capacity building through pedagogy and technology based training for the period of three years. There would be a dedicated PEHAL Coordinator to handhold teachers in the first year of the intervention and under the train the trainer Programme, teacher-mentors and PEHAL student monitors would be developed within the school for sustainability.
Extramarks Education Foundation #EEF under Project PEHAL has partnered with Muskaan Dreams Foundation to improve Quality of Education in 75 Rural GovtSchools of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh with 100 Digital Classrooms. Around 15,000 children would be benefitted through this initiative.
This project was launched by Hon'ble Vice President of India Mr Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of Central Rural Minister Mr Narendar Singh Tomar.
On 13th November, 2019, an MoU was signed by Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Extramarks Education Foundation (EEF) with Honorable District Commissioner of Siaha district to improve the quality of education by implementing Digital Classrooms in the Government Schools of Siaha District, Mizoram, under Project PEHAL. It was signed by Honorable DC of Siaha District, Shri Bhupesh Chaudhary IAS, Deputy General Manager (CSR) GAIL, Mr. Sanjay Gupta and Vice-President (EEF) Mr. Alok Sinha.
This association will go a long way in scaling up the quality of education in North East region and development of schools in rural peripheral villages. The state of Mizoram is named as one of the 'Aspirational Districts' where concerted efforts are made to improve performance of districts which are pockets of under-development. We thank GAIL and Government of Mizoram for extending support in this noble mission.
Under this project, 12 digital classrooms will be implemented and capacity building would be facilitated through pedagogy and technology based training for a period of three years. Under the ' Train the Trainer Programme, teachers-mentors and PEHAL student monitors would be trained within the Government schools of Mizoram for sustainability.
Extramarks Education Foundation's Project PEHAL was recognised and awarded at the Grand Thornton SABERA Awards 2019 on 4th December'19. Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to 'Project PEHAL' for contributing towards the development of the nation through their work under category 'Shiksha'.
Our relentless efforts in achieving social equity in education by providing education through technology to the underserved section of society, students from underprivileged areas was acknowledged at the event.

On 4th February, 2020, PEHAL's Digital Education Programme was successfully launched in Siaha District, Mizoram at Government Higher Secondary Schools with the support of GAIL (India) Limited, in the presence of @Dr K Beichhua, Honb'le Minister of State for SW&TA, AH&VETY ,E&ND, SERI, Govt. of Mizoram and Honb'le DC of Siaha District, Shri Bhupesh Chaudhary IAS. Also present were Deputy General Manager (CSR) GAIL, Mr. Sanjay Gupta with team EEF.
The initiative will help improve the quality of education immensely in North East region.
